Steam disinfection – hygienic, effective and environment-friendly
Steam disinfection is an essential part of modern, antiseptic cleaning processes. It is based on the physical effect of high temperature and enables a germ-free environment without the use of chemical disinfectants. IproTech steam systems meet the highest hygiene requirements in sensitive sectors such as food processing, medical technology or public facilities.
Definition and process
According to the German Pharmacopoeia, disinfection means bringing material to a state where it can no longer be contaminated. Traditionally, chemical agents such as alcohol, bleach or acids are used for this purpose. These processes are often complex, odour-intensive and require manual
rework and wearing of protective gear. Steam disinfection does not require any additional chemical exposure. The high temperature of the saturated steam (up to 188 degrees Celsius in the boiler) is sufficient to effectively kill microorganisms on surfaces. The application is simple, safe and significantly more comfortable for the user than chemical processes.

Cleaning and disinfection procedure
For optimal disinfection results, the treatment is carried out in two steps:
- Combining steam and water to remove visible dirt
- Applying pure steam to disinfect the cleaned surface
The surface dries automatically due to the heat formed during the steam application. The entire process is efficient, residue-free and time-saving.
